| Special: | The Type 21 is equipped with landing struts, enabling landing on rough terrain with terrain differences of up to 5 meters |
The Type 21 is sometimes called 'the Type 19s slightly bigger and more independent brother', as it was designed at the same time as the Type 19 and is completely parts compatible with the Type 19, simplifying repairs and upgrades between the two spacecraft.
Where the Type 19 is a light destroyer for fleet operations, the Type 21 offers cheap and simple independent operation capabilities, in combination with a modular multi-role capability, using a 2000 tonne capacity module bay in the aft section of the Frigate, where it can be reached from the ground, allowing it to be serviced easily on ground installations.
